Today, we're thrilled to feature Jill Gingrich, Director of Aftermarket Solutions at Premier Truck Group, in this week's "Women in the Driver's Seat" spotlight.
What inspired you to pursue a career in the automotive industry? It began with an internship at Detroit Diesel Corporation (DDC) in Detroit, Michigan. And was soon followed by an offer to join DDC for a College Graduate in Training (CGIT) program that stood out as the best employment opportunity. And so, my journey in this awesome and rewarding industry began!
What part of your job do you find most satisfying? Having the ability to develop customer solutions and enhance their experience.
What motivates you every morning? My teammates motivate me!
What has been one of the most rewarding moments in your career? It’s the moments that I’ve felt supported, and the moments I’ve been supportive.
How do you feel women have made a unique contribution to the automotive industry? I think the industry has benefitted from some of the softer skills that may be more natural for women. These skills foster deeper work relationships, which increases understanding and trust.
Can you share a lesson or insight you’ve gained during your career journey? I’ve learned that it’s good to feel uncomfortable at times. It usually means that you’re being stretched by new experiences and that’s growth.
What is your favorite motto or quote? My father always said, “Treat others just how you want to be treated”. That has stuck with me through the years and definitely in business. It guides my approach with colleagues, partners, and customers.
What advice would you give to other women aspiring to pursue a career in the automotive industry? What are you waiting for?! This industry offers it all – a wide array of business functions, opportunities to collaborate; it’s high tech, and differentiation, which could be that slight edge, is how companies compete to win!
What hobbies do you enjoy? Hobbies nowadays center around our kids’ sports activities and the many things we enjoy as a family, such as, vacations, live events, and dining experiences.
